Markel Anthony Brown

Markel Anthony Brown was born on February 10, 1991, in Walterboro, SC. He was the oldest child born to Sonja Denise Ferguson and the late Michael Anthony Brown. Markel Brown was abruptly called home and transitioned from mortality to immortality on Saturday March 30, 2024, in Walterboro, SC. at Colleton Medical Center.

During his early years he attended church at Praise Tabernacle of Ruffin, SC.

Markel Brown attended the public-school systems of Colleton County where he graduated from Colleton County High School in 2010. He continued his education at Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC. where he studied Computer Technology. He enjoyed creating music, and graphic arts. Markel also loved spending time with his family and friends. Markel was employed with L&B Construction of Charleston until he fell ill.

Markel Brown will sadly be missed but cherished in our hearts forever. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Anthony Brown; brother, Tyler Bright; paternal grandmother, Sallie Mae Brown; paternal aunts, Elnora Singleton, Mary Singleton Varn, Shirley Singleton Winfield, Jessie Mae Jenkins, and Mozell Bradford; maternal great-grandparents, Clint (Essie) Ferguson; maternal aunts, Rebecca Ferguson Mcpherson and Daisha D. Ferguson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Sonja D. Ferguson of Walterboro, SC;  two brothers, Rakiem Brown and Kaesean Bright both of Walterboro, SC; paternal grandfather, Rev. Herbert Brown of Yemassee, SC; paternal uncles, Kenny Singleton of Walterboro, SC and Hosheman (Rebecca) Brown of Portland, OR; paternal aunt, Sharita (Gerald)Green of Fayetteville, NC; Maternal Grandparents, Cecelia (Frank) Rhoden of Walterboro, SC; maternal grandfather, Henry Green of Charleston, SC; maternal uncles, Jonathan(Holly)Edwards of Cottageville, SC and  Antonio (Annie)Ferguson of Walterboro, SC; maternal uncles and aunts; Tyrone and Freeman Ferguson of Yemassee, SC, Robert(Elnora)Ferguson of Ladson, SC, Clyde(Pamela)Ferguson of Walterboro, SC, Charles Ferguson of Walterboro, SC; Aunts, Caselene Ferguson of Yemassee, SC, Josie Ferguson Anderson of Walterboro, SC and Lucyann (David)Green of Yemassee, SC; a special friend, Sacoya Scott and bonus baby girl, Jasmine Scott of Georgia; along with cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memories.
